ABOUT THE DESIGN |
ABOUT THE KIT |
|
Introduced in the first Star Wars "prequel," 1999's "The Phantom Menace," the Naboo Royal Starship boasted a sleek, 1950s'-style retro design intended to reflect the optimism of the Old Republic. Unlike the rigidly geometric, greeblie-covered ships of the Empire era, Naboo technology was smooth, polished and very, very civilized. |
Based on an Estes flying rocket,
this Fantastic Plastic Models kit was significantly modified by pattern maker
Pat Tomlinson, who removed all vestiges of the solid rocket motor accommodations
and added highly detailed landing gear, bay doors and an entrance ramp.
The kit was a big one, measuring 16 inches tip-to-tip. This kit is currently available for purchase at the Fantastic Plastic Virtual Museum Store. This model was built from an original issue. |
