ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT

The Rebel Transport boasted a fairly simple design that reflected its strictly utilitarian mission.  The ship was conceived a medium-sized, low-speed cargo carrier (as opposed to the small but swift Corellian cargo ships such as Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon), one that could carry men and materials in the manner of the old WWII Liberty ships.

Rebel Transports appeared only briefly during the Battle of Hoth sequence that opened “The Empire Strikes Back,” and again during the Rebel rendezvous during the film’s denouement.

This model was never released individually, but was part of the Rebel Base set issued by MPC a year after the release of TESB.  The set also featured a mini-Millennium Falcon and a half-dozen thumb-sized X-wing fighters and snowspeeders.  For a simple snap-kit, the transport model boasted superior exterior detailing.

This model was built from the set’s original issue.
