ABOUT THE DESIGN:    ABOUT THE MODEL:

George Pal's 1950 Cold War classic "Destination Moon" was Hollywood's first "serious" depiction of manned space travel. The story centered on an American industrialist who banded with fellow businessmen to build and launch the first manned moon rocket before the Russians could accomplish a similar feat.

The technological centerpiece of the story was the "Luna," a single-stage rocket ship powered by a revolutionary atomic powerplant.  The ship's classic winged ogive configuration, inspired in large part by Germany's V-2 rockets, subsequently became a virtual icon for "rocketships" of the post-War era.

In 1:48 scale, this unique "collector's kit" was created by Masterpiece Models using a casting taken from George Pal's original studio miniature.  It is a true "studio scale" model that provides the builder with an exact reproduction of the miniature used in the seminal 1950 science-fiction classic.

The rocket consists of five pieces.  A "lunar surface" display stand is also included.  Thin wire is provided for those who wish to build the kit with its ladder rungs extended.

Don't miss out on this chance to build and own a piece of science-fiction history!
