ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT

Making its first appearance in the opening scene of "Star Trek - The Motion Picture," the K't-inga-Class Battle Cruiser was actually little more than an old TOS D-7 hyper-detailed and given a modern "Aztec"-style paint job.  The ship would make another appearance -- this time with a very colorful exterior treatment -- as Chancellor Gorkon's flagship in 1991's "Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country," as well as in several early episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

First released in 1979 in conjunction with "ST:TMP," the K't'inga disappeared until resurrected with new box art by AMT/Ertl for ST-VI.  Its raised paneling made detailing a relative snap.

This model was built from an original 1979 issue
