ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT

Like all Gungan technology, the "bongo" submarine has a distinctively organic look to it, resembling a cross between a manta ray and a squid.  According to Lucasfilm, the subs were organically "grown" and were equipped with shields that protected the passenger compartment even at enormous depths.

One of AMT/Ertl's last licensed "Star Wars" kits produced in the 1990s, the Gungan submarine was a simple "snap" kit that actually built up into a pretty impressive model.  The kit was released only briefly in early 2000 before going out of production.

This model was built from an original issue.
