ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT

The Basestar was the Cylon's equivalent of the humans' Battlestar; it was a massive launch platform from which hundreds of Raiders could be launched toward any number of enemy targets.

Even for a T.V. series not known for its creative designs, the Basestar concept was pretty lame.  Basically it looked like two dinner plates glued together and detailed with model parts.

The Cylon Basestar was one of four "Battlestar Galactica" models released soon after the show's September 1978 premiere. It was a simple kit, consisting of four discs, two end caps, a few detail pieces and an inadequate stand.  Like all the "BSG" kits, it was released with new box art by Revell/Monogram in the mid-1990s.

This model is from the original 1978 release.
