ABOUT THE DESIGN:    ABOUT THE MODEL:
Beginning in 1944, a series of "flying saucer"-style fighters were reportedly built and tested at the Prag-Kbley aerodrome in Czechoslovakia.  These "disc blade" aircraft used a BMW 003 jet engine to spin eight aluminum blades around a circular cockpit creating a helicopter-like lift effect.

The Flugelrad II V.1 was the second test model in the series. Built in 1945, it eschewed the problematic rudder featured in the initial prototype.
