The Gloster Meteor is famous for being Britain's first operational jet fighter. But Gloster wasn't the only British aircraft manufacturer in the running for this distinction. Hawker also had a twin-engine jet fighter proposal, the P.1048, which looked somewhat like an elongated German Me.262. It incorporated the AS.65 engine. Unfortunately, little additional data is known about this project. |
