ABOUT THE DESIGN:    ABOUT THE MODEL:
In 1960, France' Dassault aircraft company produced several "paper" studies exploring ways to adapt Britain's Bristol BE 53-8 engine for its own advanced fighters. One of these concepts was labeled MD-610.  It would combine one inboard BE-53-8 powerplant with four moveable ducted exhausts to give it both VTOL capabilities and enough thrust to achieve Mach 1.  The MD-160, along with its "sister" concepts, the MD-620 and MD-630, never made it past the design stage.
