ABOUT THE DESIGN

ABOUT THE KIT

The X-37C is Boeing Aerospace's proposed mini-shuttle for transporting crews to and from the International Space Station. The design is basically an upscaling of the company's successful X-37B reusable orbital test vehicle (OTV), which the U.S. Air Force has been using for a number of top-secret long-duration missions.

The principle differences between the X-37C and the X-37B -- in addition to its size -- are the forward cockpit windows, the upper fuselage observation windows, the addition of a second engine bell and, perhaps most important, a docking collar at the rear of the vehicle that would allow it to mate with the ISS and permit direct vehicle-to-vehicle crew transfers.

To date, the X-37C has not progressed beyond the proposal stage.

The X-37C kit was created for Fantastic Plastic Models by BLAP! Models and Paul Roberts based on several Boeing Aerospace designs.

The kit is scheduled to make its premiere at Wonderfest in Louisville, Kentucky, in May 2013.
